Me and Brian saw this moose and two others close by her on New years eve day while we were on our way to the commissary. Brian got out of the truck to take this picture because he doesn't like to roll the windows down when it is -20 degrees. (The windows freeze too.) The moose was just as interested in him as he was in the moose.
New years eve we went to our friends house in North Pole. There is a pond close to their house and the neighbors get together to set off fireworks and stand by the huge bon fire they set up on the frozen lake. Here is one of the fireworks that was set off by a neighbor a little further away.
Here is the bon fire. The flame was 4x the size of this when we first got there. It was really warm. Notice the cracking ice in the picture. You could see ice cracks all over the pond. The locals were not concerned so I guess this is normal.
